Hello Everyone! I am Soil Conservationist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Waupaca, WI. I provide technical and financial assistance on conservation projects for private landowners. I have been with the agency since 2014 and have enjoyed every minute of it so far.
My education background is from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. At Point I majored in Soil and Land Management and am a few classes shy of a minor in Water Resources. While at Point I was a member of the SWCS student chapter, I participated in a Ginseng Research study in Marathon County, and competed in Soil Judging competitions in Texas and Illinois.
Prior to NRCS I worked for Golden Sands RC&D in Stevens Point as a Grazing/GIS Specialist, and interned at Sauk County CPZ as a Conservation Technician and with the US Forest Service for 2 summers as a fisheries technician.
My main areas of interest as a soil conservationist are managed grazing and soil health. To achieve the level of conservation needed in this country our soil health must improve and the best way I see to doing that is to reintegrate livestock onto the land as an ecosystem management tool. That being said, Waupaca County is very diverse so I have been able to gain a wide array of knowledge from cover crops to forestry.
