The Farmer Led Watershed group from Barron County Wisconsin(Farmers of Barron County Watersheds) is hosting their mid winter educational meeting on January 30th at the Ridgeland Community Center in Ridgeland from 10 am – 2pm.

The agenda will feature opening comments from WI Deputy Sec’y of AG, Jeff Lyons. Also on the program is UW Soils professional Fransisco Arriaga, and Don Reicosky, retired NRCS-ARS soil scientist. The meeting promises to be an outstanding learning opportunity for anyone interested in building soil quality with discussions around carbon, nitrogen, cover crops, tillage impacts, and building a more sustainable agriculture system.

Please RSVP by email to hamernik@chibardun.net with number so we have adequate food and seating.

You missed it……………we had a great turnout and a very profitable day discussing and listening to soil quality experts talk the finer points of how soils become higher in organic matter(carbon) and how this affects production and profitability for the farmer.

Great turn out yesterday, I really enjoyed the event. Don and Fransisco had some great messages about soil health and promoting Carbon in fields. Carbon is the “C” that starts “C”onservation- as stated by Don.

It was also great to hear from the Barron County Watershed Group about the effort you all are putting into conservation, keep up the good work!
